This case study examines the Walter & Elise Haas Fund’s Endeavor Fund, which provides seven-year unrestricted grants to Bay Area nonprofits. Through interviews with grantees, the report shows how long-term, flexible funding improves job quality, pay equity, and staff well-being, while reducing burnout and turnover. Many-year grants also strengthen internal systems, reduce fundraising pressure, and enhance program impact. The study argues that extending grant durations is essential for building resilient, people-centered organizations and lasting community outcomes.
